About The Episode

The Change Begins is the completed first episode of The Change: Unleashing the Wild Woman, an educational documentary series that explores the journey from perimenopause through post menopause with honesty, compassion, and hope.

Featuring racially and culturally diverse women alongside leading experts in integrative medicine, mental health, functional nutrition, and Ayurveda, the film offers a comprehensive look at one of the most significant—and often misunderstood—transitions in a woman's life.

More than a documentary about symptoms, The Change Begins empowers women with evidence-informed education about hormonal health, BioIdentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), holistic wellness approaches, mindfulness, nutrition, and self-advocacy.

The film also explores how historical events, including the Women's Health Initiative study, influenced menopause care and why many women continue to struggle to find accurate information and effective support.

Through powerful storytelling and expert insight, The Change Begins inspires women to feel informed, heard, and empowered to partner with their healthcare providers in making decisions that are right for them.

Knowledge. Empowerment. Transformation.

Our Newest Addition:

Dr. Sims Completes Our Film!

Dr. Kourtney Sims (MD, FACOG, IFMCP, MSCP, DABOM) is moving from the Q&A Stage to our Big Screen! She has officially been added to "The Change Begins" film cast.

Dr. Sims is the FIRST and currently the ONLY physician in the United States to be simultaneously nationally certified by the North American Menopause Society and the Institute of Functional Medicine, while also being board-certified in Ob-Gyn and Obesity Medicine.

Our Premiere Screening was a GREAT success!

January 11th was a milestone for our women's wellness mission. McGovern Theater of the Health Museum was well attended and the Q&A Expert Panel was fantastic! Nutritionist Tammy Karni, Dr. Shelena Lalji, and Dr. Kourtney Sims (from left to right) had such strong, positive, and natural connections with each other. Every attendee left inspired and informed, and they made sure we knew it!

A special thanks to every person and organization who helped make this night happen, including The Health Museum, Whole Foods, and these wonderful ladies for their resources and belief in our mission. Truly...A dream COME TRUE and only the beginning!!!

"What's happening here is a global movement. It's a conversation that starts in Houston, Texas and it's going to go across the world. What Linda Gibbs has done and this incredible panel that she brought in today has really taught me that we need to change this narrative..."

"I really enjoyed participating"

"Thank you so much. This was so informative. There's so many things we don't know as physicians. I'm a physician and I learned so much that I wish I'd learned earlier 25 years ago when I was training. But as a woman, it's so wonderful to hear. This is so important, that men and women understand what happens during menopause."

"Hi, I'm Dr. Kourtney. I am a functional and integrative gynecologist, and I really enjoyed participating in this event, seeing the movie, participating in the panel, answering the Q&A. We had a lot of great questions from the audience. I think that we educated a lot while we were here. I think that we shared a lot of information that was useful..."

Plants Can Help Menopause!

Many women incorporate aromatherapy and essential oils into broader wellness routines that may include movement, mindfulness, integrative medicine, and hormone care. Read below about 10 scents from the Young Living Essential Oils website. I learned SO MUCH after attending their Awaken Tour in Arlington, Texas.

Top 10 Essential Oils for Newbies

Lavender

Lavender essential oil is easily one of the most well-known oils in the world. This gentle oil can be used almost anywhere—added to water to make a room-freshening spray, in the bath or mixed with your favourite lotion.

Lemon

The tangy scent of lemon can liven any day. Diffuse it to share its summery aroma, apply a couple drops to a cotton ball to rub away sticky adhesive or promote the appearance of youthful skin by adding it to your nighttime skin care routine.

Tea Tree

Tea Tree essential oil is widely used for its cleansing properties, particularly when applied topically to the skin, hair and nails or to neutralize unwanted odours.

Orange

Orange’s sweet smell makes everything feel right. Add it to your linen spray to give your wash some citrus-scented freshness.

Grapefruit

Want your house to feel like a sunny beach house? Grapefruit brings a welcome burst of freshness, whether you’re diffusing it or using it to zest up your household cleaners.

Cedarwood

This essential oil’s balmy, rich scent can chase away unwanted smells and invites an atmosphere of coziness and peace.

Oregano

With its warm, herbaceous aroma, Oregano can be added to a carrier oil and rubbed into your joints after a long day.

Eucalyptus Radiata

You can literally use this Australian oil from head to toe, to rejuvenate your hair; help hydrate dull, dry skin; or to inhale as you wind down for bed.

Frankincense

Its grounding, complex aroma is often diffused during prayer or meditation to encourage self-reflection.
